Red Velvet Mug Cake

How do I like my eggs?
In a cake, duh.

Chocolate Mug Cake Recipe

I found the above recipe on Pinterest. I modified it a little for Red Velvet Cake. Instead of regular flour, I used Beetroot flour.

Red Velvet Mug Cake Ingredients :

  • 3 Tbsp Beetroot Flour
  • 3 Tbsp Sugar
  • 3 Tbsp Chocolate Syrup
  • ¼ Baking Powder
  • 1 Pinch Salt
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 Tbsp Oil
  • 2 Tbsp Water

Bake in microwave for 2 minutes.

I put 3 Tbsp chocolate syrup, instead of the usual 2, because I was a little afraid that the beetroot would overpower the taste. 😅

So, how was it? Well… It turned out great! 🎉 It was delicious. The beetroot factor makes it a little healthy too. The colour was dark red. The beetroot gave it a natural colour, instead of using artifical food colour.

I made it a second time, but instead of using chocolate syrup, I used Cocoa powder. It was delicious but it didn’t turn red colour.

You’ll should definitely try both the mug cakes – chocolate & red velvet. A sweet treat during your break.
