The Thane Creek Flamingo Sanctuary is located in Airoli and consists of Coastal & Marine Biodiversity Center and the Mangrove Walkway. To reach the venue, it is best to take your own vehicle (there are parking charges) as public transport till the center is not easily available.

One public transport option is to take a bus from Airoli station till Airoli Sector 10, and then walk it out till CMBC, which would take about 7 minutes. The second option is to take an auto-rickshaw, but when leaving you might have to book an auto ride online as usually there are no rickshaws nearby.

When you enter the premises, there are two information centers. One has taxidermy animals and a souvenir shop. The second one is filled with information about mangroves, flamingoes & other birds, the ocean and nature in general, along with interactive devices for fun learning.

In front of the information centers there is a fountain with bright koi fish and behind there are turtles and other fish. I think this the first time I saw koi fish in person & they were so pretty. I also saw baby clownfish (sneakily 😅😉).

Next you have to walk right up to the boating area. Towards the boating site on the left will be a gate and signs. That’s the way to the Mangrove Walkway. Be careful when walking on the bamboo bridge, it’s best to wear shoes. It might seem like a long walk but the view is worth it.

If possible go till the end of the boat point. Walk on the blue floating thing. You will be able to see the flamingoes even more closely.

The ‘Thane Creek Flamingo Sanctuary’ and the ‘Coastal & Marine Biodiversity Center’ are good sites for your family, especially your kids to spend some quality time in nature alongside learning about the important role biodiversity plays in our ecosystem.

• School Students : ₹25 (Id Compulsory)
• Indian Adult / Foreign Student : ₹50
• Foreign Adult : ₹100
