Kachrali Lake

Lake #5 of The City of Lakes Project

Located in Panchpakadi, Kachrali Lake is a beautiful spot in the heart of Thane city. The best time (of the year) to visit it is during the warmer months of May to August when the water body feels pleasant to be around. Visitors can expect to spend at least 1-2 hours at this place.

Kachrali Talav is a recreational spot to sit back & relax. The lake is open to the public on all days of the week, during timings 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM. There is no entrance fee.

The lake has a jogging track and exercise area where several health conscious locals are seen frequently. A playground is located within the lake premises, where children can play and have a jolly time.

Boating facilities are available. Occasionally some locals can be seen fishing in the lake (cannot confirm if it’s allowed or safe to fish, just read about it). There is a Kalavati Aai temple and a small Ganesha temple in close proximity to the lake.

There are plenty of secluded spots beneath its green cover of trees to sit and relax. The whole lakeside area is covered by greenery making it the perfect spot for families and couples to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the lake.

At Kachrali talav, you will come across a lot of cats. During my visit, I witnessed a few locals feeding the stray cats, cat food. It feels good to see citizens making a difference in society with small actions like these. If you are lucky, you may catch a glimpse of some ducks too.

Do include Kachrali lake to your Thane itinerary, to spend some quality time in nature and with cats 😺. It’s the perfect place for residents fot their morning and evening strolls.

Abby Recommends :

Using a collapsible water bottle. They save you space as well as the expenses of bottled water. It also helps in minimising plastic waste.
