The City of Lakes Project

Hey guys! Welcome to The City of Lakes Project by Abby’s Travel Journal!

Talav Pali

I am on a mission to visit all the 30+ lakes in the city of Thane. Which is known to be the city of lakes. Thane is one of the few industrially advanced districts in the state of Maharashtra, India.

The word ‘Thane’ is derived from local Marathi word “ठाणे” meaning “Police Check Post”. Thane was the next Major British Police Check Post after Mumbai (formerly Bombay).

My dream is to travel the world but before I do so, I want to explore my own city. And what better way to do so, by exploring the things & places it’s famous for – ‘lakes’.

• My criteria for every lake visit :

  1. Make sure to take a walk around the whole perimeter of the lake. (Take in the fresh air, embrace nature, admire the views)
  2. Click some flattering photos. (Ticket to memory land)
  3. Shoot some videos for Reels (Optional).
  4. Visit a local food stall/restaurant (If any present).
