Skincare For On The Go

“Beautiful skin requires commitment, not a miracle.”

Erno Laszlo

I want to travel far and wide, once this lockdown & pandemic are done for good, but now that I’m entering my 20s I see how important skin care is. And I was concerned how would I manage that while I’m on the go…

I asked my dearest friend Shreya, an aspiring makeup artist & skincare enthusiast, for some of her tips & tricks.

“Hey! I am Shreya, & here are some of my go-to tips.

I usually just minimize the quantity of my products. Transfer the products to smaller containers or you can just keep the products which are about to finish, instead of buying new fully packaged products. I’m always in a hurry, so even if the product gets lost or forgetten, not a big deal.

In regards to the products, try to keep the same or something similar to the ones you use daily. Also think about the climate of the destination, if warmer make sure the products don’t clog your pores, leading to breakouts. If colder, carry winter moisturizing products.

Now the question, what should be included in my travel skincare kit? Focus on the things you really need and which does not take much space. Here is what I use :

1. SPF is a must. You will probably spend most of your time outdoors (unless you plan to lock yourself in a cabin 😉😂). You have to protect your skin from the harmful UV rays.

2. Face wipes or micellar water & cotton pads to clean dirt, sweat, excess oil or just to freshen up when there is no water available to wash your face. If I know the location will be bomb and I want to take awe-struck photos, I apply light makeup.

While we are traveling, there is bound to be dirt & dust which will settle on your skin, which could cause acne, clogged pores, and while on the move, just using wipes to remove all this is not enough. For this reason, I avoid wearing makeup when I’m traveling.

3. Face wash

4. Moisturizer

5. Face pack – if you get 15 minutes. It will clear and freshen up the skin very well.

6. Eye cream – the skin around the eyes is very sensitive, you should take good care.

7. Lip balm – lips gets affected whenever there is change in environment.

8. Scrub – exfoliation of the upper layer of skin can freshen you up and also reduce the chances of acne during travel. Unclogs and removes dead skin. Avoid touching your face.

Avoid using chemical exfoliants during traveling because your skin will be very sensitive to sunrays, instead use physical exfoliants.

9. Toner, because I have oily skin and it cleans up whatever is left after face wash.”

In short, minimise the quantity of the products you already use, & keep in mind your destination’s climate.

Thanks Shreya, your tips have been very useful. I am going to keep these in mind during my future trips.
